A week of creative writing workshops for children

Thanet Creative is pleased to announce its 2019 children’s creative writing week.

Thanet Creative has received funding from the Arts Council to run a 4-day children’s creative writing festival in Margate. The creative writing workshops will run during the week of August Bank Holiday.

Children’s creative writing workshops

We have partnered with Read Now Write Now, The Tom Thumb Theatre, Arts Council England, Margate Library and Turner Contemporary to bring to Thanet a series of free creative writing workshops.

The theme for this year’s workshops is based on the Summer Reading Challenge of “Space Chase” which is organised by the Reading Agency.

Short Story Writing Day

Tuesday 27th August

  • Turner Contemporary 10am to 4pm.

You need to book your child into the writing day in advance as places are limited. The writing day runs from 10am to 4pm at the Turner Contemporary Centre.

Poetry Writing

Wednesday 28th August

Our poetry writing day is a drop-in (no booking required) event running throughout the day from 10am and ending at 4pm. Come along and join us at Margate Margate Library and our children’s writing tutor will guide your young person as they write a poem.

Write and perform a play

Thursday and Friday (29th to 30th August)

  • Tom Thumb Theatre 10am to 4pm (both days)

This two-day event will allow twenty children to learn how to write and then perform their own play. They will be guided by an expert teacher and members of Thanet Creative.

You need to book your child into the writing day in advance as places are limited.

    1. It looks like there was a glitch that stopped this post announcing itself on time. It has been fixed so it should not happen again. As for the children’s workshops, we are looking at running more next year.
