Your hero or heroine should not be perfect. Far from it – their flaws and failings are what make them interesting.

Flaws are something the character can struggle with as they grow, vices are things that can be used against them, and weaknesses demand extra effort or creative solutions.

It is not what a character can do that makes them interesting, it is all the things they cannot do.
